Solution
Improve Shopify checkout conversion
Checkouts lose orders at predictable points. This guide lists the common ones for Indian Shopify stores, the RabbitPay feature that addresses each, and how to measure the result on your own store.
RabbitPay does not publish a conversion-uplift figure. What changes for your store is something to measure, not assume.
Friction points
Where checkouts lose orders, and what addresses each
Typing a full delivery address on a phone
The address is the longest thing a mobile checkout asks for, and the most error-prone.
Address AutofillAddress autofill brings a returning shopper's saved details back, prefilled and editable.
A multi-step form before payment
Every extra screen between the cart and payment is another point to leave.
One-Click CheckoutOne-click checkout starts with a mobile number and puts details, summary and payment on one screen.
A payment step that does not lead with UPI
UPI is the dominant way to pay on mobile in India, and a card-first step adds work for those shoppers.
UPI CheckoutUPI checkout puts UPI first, with cards, netbanking, wallets and COD alongside.
COD orders that ship and come back
An unverified COD order can complete checkout and still return undelivered — an RTO, not a sale.
Verified COD in the FAQVerified COD screens pending orders before dispatch; part payment and a COD fee add commitment.
The intended journey
What the shopper does, start to finish
Five steps from the Buy button to the confirmation. A returning shopper reviews their details at step 3 instead of typing them. Try the checkout simulation
Customer details
The shopper enters their mobile number on the first screen — no long form to start with.
Mobile verification
A one-time code confirms the number, which is what lets the saved details come back.
Delivery details prefilled
Name, address, phone and email appear already filled in and editable, next to the order summary.
Payment
UPI sits first, with cards, netbanking, wallets and cash on delivery alongside it.
Order confirmed
The shopper places the order and lands on the confirmation — the end of the journey.
Measure it
How to measure completed checkouts
Use your own store's data — Shopify's reports, your analytics tool and your shipping data — rather than a benchmark from anywhere else.
Pick one metric
Completed checkouts as a share of sessions that reached checkout. Shopify's own conversion reports show both numbers.
Record a baseline
Note the figure for a period before going live, the same length as the period you will compare it with.
Compare like with like
Similar traffic, campaigns and season on both sides. A sale week against a normal week measures the sale.
Split prepaid and COD
See how the payment mix of completed orders moves, not only the total.
Follow COD to delivery
Use your shipping data for delivered versus returned. A completed checkout that comes back is not a sale.
To see what a change in conversion rate would mean for revenue, enter your own sessions, conversion rate and order value in the revenue calculator.
RabbitPay does not publish a conversion-uplift figure, and results depend on each store's traffic, products and payment mix. The reliable answer is the one you measure on your own store: completed checkouts before and after, over comparable periods.
Compare the share of sessions that reach checkout and go on to complete an order, using Shopify's own reports or your analytics tool, across two periods of the same length with similar campaigns. Look at completed orders rather than checkout starts, split prepaid from COD, and for COD orders follow through to delivered versus returned.
Three costs that sit at the same point in an Indian D2C funnel: shoppers dropping off during a slow checkout, unverified COD orders that ship and come back undelivered, and payment friction on mobile. RabbitPay addresses all three at the checkout step itself — address prefill to cut typing, verified COD and risk checks to cut RTO, and a UPI-first payment step for mobile-heavy traffic.
RTO means return to origin: an order that ships but comes back undelivered. The brand pays forward and reverse shipping, handles the returned stock, and books no sale — which is what makes it one of the more expensive failure modes in Indian D2C. It is why RabbitPay pairs verified COD and risk checks with the checkout itself rather than treating them as a separate step.
Yes. Collect a partial payment online and the remaining amount on delivery. This helps reduce RTO, improve customer commitment, and increase prepaid conversions.
Yes. You can easily add a COD convenience fee for your customers to encourage prepaid orders and reduce unnecessary COD purchases. This is separate from RabbitPay's own pricing, which is 1% on successful prepaid orders and 0.3% on successful COD orders.
